Life in this world is pretty harsh, so keep that in mind. If your captain dies, the game is over. Having your ship sunk, however, does not end your run. As long as the captain is alive, there is still hope. You can escape in a lifeboat, and even if you end up as the only survivor adrift at sea, you still have a shot at reaching the mainland and carrying on with your adventure.
