Batman: Arkham Asylum kicked off a hugely successful series about Batman's adventures. The action takes place in Arkham psychiatric hospital. What a lovely spot! It's home to Harley Quinn, Croc, Victor Zsasz and, of course, the Joker. More often than not, it's Batman who books their stay. One day, the patients decide to throw the superhero and the entire Arkham staff a big surprise...
The story begins as Batman brings the Joker to Arkham Asylum, which sits on an island. The Joker gave himself up far too easily, so the superhero senses that something is off, but he hands his archenemy over to the guards anyway. Big mistake: the supervillain quickly carries out his plan to take over the island, with help from Harley Quinn, of course. The pair take Commissioner James Gordon hostage and win over a crowd of the most dangerous criminals. Yes, Batman is in for a rough night. Then again, he's used to it!
The intriguing story isn't the only reason to download Batman: Arkham Asylum. The developer, Rocksteady Studios, also delivered great graphics, a spectacular combat system and all kinds of puzzles that you solve with Batman's set of high-tech gadgets. Those gadgets naturally include the Batarang, the explosive gel gun and the grapnel claw. Note that this is an action game where sometimes you fight up close and sometimes you have to stay very, very quiet.
Game features:
- The madhouse in all its glory. Rocksteady Studios used Unreal Engine 3. Everything is done in the style of the famous comics, and the game captures the grim, unhinged atmosphere of Arkham 100%.
- One against all! Batman faces the Joker, Harley Quinn, the Riddler, Poison Ivy and other supervillains, plus plenty of henchmen.
- Varied gameplay. Explosions, long glides, hand-to-hand fights, sneaking up on enemies, hacking computer systems, battling hallucinations: what didn't happen over that one night!
- Loads of secrets. As you play, you can find all kinds of material that reveals the secrets of Arkham Asylum and its patients. Anyone can play the game, but only a handful will complete the full collection. Accept the challenge!
- It's simply a hit! Various media outlets called this action game "Game of the Year", "Best Game" and so on. Almost every critic scored it 90 out of 100. Everything here is genuinely cool, the Batman way!
