In 2008, Capcom released the fourth game in its famous dark slasher series, Devil May Cry. Players loved it and critics praised it highly, and anyone with a PC, Xbox 360 or PS3 could enjoy its intriguing story and gripping gameplay. We're happy to report that owners of new-generation consoles will soon get the same chance: this summer, Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition arrives, and you will be able to download it. This expanded and updated edition will also be available on PC, by the way.
The main additions include improved textures and 1080p resolution. On the gameplay side, there are two new modes: Turbo, which runs 20% faster, and Legendary Dark Knight, which pits you against countless enemies. On top of that, the developers decided to treat players to bonus costumes and character skins. Speaking of characters, the number of playable ones will probably go up.
Now is a good time to recall the story of Devil May Cry 4. It takes place in the city of Fortuna, which is under the care of the Order of the Sword, a group that worships Sparda, the Dark Knight. The story begins one fine day during morning prayers, when the famous demon hunter Dante, who also happens to be Sparda's son, bursts into the Order's temple and kills its leader, His Holiness Sanctus.
The congregation was outraged, and one member of the Order of the Sword, the young and free-spirited Nero, managed to stop Dante. But a demon assault on the city that broke out at the same time let Dante slip away, and the bold Nero sets off on his trail to take revenge on the killer. You play as Nero for the first half of the story. Part of what made Devil May Cry 4 so interesting was that it introduced a new character with unique abilities. Later on, you also get to play as Dante.
