DOOM (1993) is the legendary FPS that every modern first-person shooter traces its roots back to. You take on the role of a space marine sent to explore the distant planet Mars. But the hero decides to disobey his commanding officer and opens fire on ordinary civilians.
The Story
On Mars, the protagonist is taken into custody, while his squadmates are sent to Phobos to deal with all kinds of trouble. After a while, though, none of them make contact. Our hero decides to get to the bottom of it himself and breaks out of his confinement.
In time, he learns that an organization called the UAC has been running experiments on teleporting various objects through gates located on Phobos. But as soon as a person passes through them, truly horrifying creatures start pouring out of the gates.
