Hitman: Absolution is the fifth installment in the famous stealth action series about Agent 47. In this story, for the first time in his life, he goes on a job with a conscience. He has been ordered to kill Diana, the handler from the organization 47 works for. As far as you can say such a thing about a hitman, he and Diana had become friends, and he has no wish to take her life. But she is suspected of betrayal, so he has no choice. The hero also has to take a teenage girl named Victoria from Diana, and that is not simple either: his colleague's dying wish was that Victoria never be handed over to the Agency. And that is only the beginning. The story is complex, gripping and dramatic in places.
Step by Step
This time missions are split into stages, with 47 closing in on his target one step at a time. There can be as many as five of these steps, or rather sub-levels, and each one is always tied to the ones before it. You can still use the good old methods to complete a mission, but some changes are obvious. Disguises now attract far more attention from enemies, so you have to think carefully about what you wear. You will also notice that the famous sedative syringe is gone, although the hero can now put enemies to "sleep" for a while without it. The visuals are atmospheric, even a little grim, and undeniably beautiful thanks to the Glacier 2 engine.
Hitman: Absolution Features
47 has gained supernatural abilities. There is a new Instinct mode: for a short time the hitman can see what is happening behind walls, shoot with incredible speed and accuracy, stay as inconspicuous as possible, pick out his target in a crowd and predict its moves. Without a doubt, this makes the game all the more tempting to download.
The first game on the Glacier 2 engine. IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series, prefers to use its own rendering technology, Glacier. The first version is familiar from Hitman: Codename 47, and the second was built specifically for Hitman: Absolution. The graphics look superb on every platform: PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
47 likes to work in different ways. It has always been that way, and you can safely say it always will be. Under your direction, the hitman can stage an accident, use a silenced sniper rifle or take out a target noisily, with a shotgun, for example. The arsenal is huge, too: there are more than a dozen pistols alone.
Contracts are personal. You can create missions yourself, so the game works both as a campaign to complete and as a creative tool. You get to pick the target, set the conditions, tune the difficulty and fine-tune every other detail. Your missions can even make you famous if you share them with other Hitman: Absolution fans.
