Anime and manga have been steadily conquering the global community, and Japanese culture has gone worldwide and keeps growing in popularity. Developers have not ignored this trend, and they keep putting out all sorts of interesting games set in anime and manga universes. The most actively growing series of them all is the epic pirate saga called One Piece.
If you are not familiar with this universe, it is best to start by watching the anime, since the story has been running for 18 years and it is not easy to keep track of events without some background. As for the games, several adaptations of the series have already come out with interesting stories, and now Bandai Namco has announced the next entry, One Piece: Burning Blood. This time, though, the company brought in Spike Chunsoft to develop it, which is rather strange, since that studio is known for interactive novels and JRPGs. Bandai Namco itself insists that it is hard at work on a fighting game set in the universe, and judging by the trailer the company showed at its conference, that really is the case. We see the show's heroes fighting one another, and sometimes the matchups do not follow the story, or rather the opponents who face off do not. Breaking away from the plot means the game will definitely not retell specific events. On the other hand, you can see that the graphics have improved, the fights have become more dynamic and exciting, and the iconic heroes' abilities look fantastic.
One Piece Burning Blood is expected on PC in 2016, while on new-generation consoles you will have to buy it.
