Sunfire Software has long been pitching some pretty original and interesting ideas for adventures, but nobody had seen them come to life. Then, out of the blue, anyone can now download Stormworks: Build and Rescue for free. It's the company's new project, sending you into a dangerous virtual world battered by disasters, storms and other nasty natural catastrophes. No, you don't have to fight the disasters themselves. Instead, you lead a rescue organization that can design all kinds of aircraft to save people in trouble.
The game's main feature is the freedom to design your own rescue aircraft. That means not just helicopters but also planes, strange contraptions and other futuristic designs. At first you'll have a small set of simple parts, and then, as you rescue people and prove your worth, the range of parts on offer keeps growing.
We don't recommend rushing, though, because building aircraft isn't easy. You need to account for weight and aerodynamics, patch up every gap and place the engines in a way that at least makes logical sense. If you break these rules, your flying machine won't last long and will come crashing down under the force of the elements.
