You are free to explore and put every corner of the environment to use: any object or structure might turn out to be part of a solution. Investigations get special attention, and you decide for yourself who to accuse and how each detective story ends.
Progress comes from finding new abilities that open up routes you couldn't reach before. Combat is rare and feels more like another puzzle for your brain. What matters here is creative thinking, not firepower or fast reflexes.
