In 2011, game designer Edmund McMillen released The Binding of Isaac, an indie arcade game that tackles a very serious subject involving children. It became a hit, and in 2014 he followed it up with The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, made together with the studio Nicalis. On October 30, 2015, players will get to try Rebirth's first expansion, Afterbirth. Thanks to it, finishing the campaign will take a hundred hours!
What else is there to enjoy in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth?
- Greed Mode. It is harder than the other modes, introduces a new boss and reveals yet another way the story can end. The main mode gets a new boss and ending of its own as well.
- More than a thousand extra rooms and a hundred items, including bombs, cards and chests. There are also ten fresh challenges, plus competitive daily challenges. Oh, and there are four alternate chapters too.
- A longer soundtrack and a reworked HUD that shows the most important information. On top of that, there are many new ways to combine items and trigger transformations.
- Twenty-five new kinds of enemies and eight great new bosses. There's an extra playable character as well: the demon woman Lilith.
And that's far from everything. Yes, there are plenty of reasons to look forward to October 30, when The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth comes out on PC. No release dates for other versions have been announced yet.
