Crytivo Games, a studio headed by Alexander Koshelkov, was founded not long ago, in 2013, in California. The Universim is the studio's first big project, and a fundraising campaign was launched to support it. So what are the developers offering? First of all, it is a kind of mix of Civilization and SimCity, but clearly expanded, because the creators did not stop at building megacities, military battles and the race for new technologies. What really sets the project apart is the ability to colonize new planets and build cities on them too, so strategy fans have good reason to consider whether to download The Universim for free.
What the game offers:
- In essence, you get to feel like the Creator, developing one planet and then smoothly moving on to the next. How society evolves is entirely up to you. You have a lot of power at your disposal; for example, you can steer some threat of total destruction away from the planet.
- When colonizing a new planet, you will have to fight many factors to give its inhabitants a decent life: temperatures that are either too high or too low, a shortage of water, or even no atmosphere at all.
- Running a planet is no easy task. Starting from the Stone Age, you need to pay special attention to science and research. You will have to learn everything from the basics, such as discovering fire itself and using it to protect your people from wild animals, or studying medicine and developing new remedies to defeat a rampaging disease, and so on. Anything that threatens life on the planet is your concern.
- The planet lives its own life: the weather changes and natural events strike. A storm rages or an earthquake destroys buildings, a tornado sweeps away residents along with their homes, and meteors fall and leave craters behind...
- What awaits after the Stone Age is unknown even to the developers themselves. It could be anything: an outbreak of war, a deadly epidemic, dangerous aliens from the depths of the universe, disasters... Your beloved inhabitants will settle one planet after another, but what awaits them on each new world is a mystery you will have to uncover.
