It has been fascinating to watch everything that followed the grand announcement and abrupt cancellation of P.T., the project created by industry legends Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro. This time the Canadian team SadSquare Studio has stepped into the spotlight, hard at work on Visage, a game inspired by the brilliant P.T.
For now, though, the project is still looking for funding. The developers need to raise 35,000 Canadian dollars. At the moment the campaign has already reached 44,000 Canadian dollars, and it will run for another 31 days. So the total will most likely grow many times over, which means the developers can work at full capacity and release a truly impressive game.
As for the game itself, its core concept and story are already known. You head into a huge mansion with a decidedly mixed reputation. Some residents lived well there and were always followed by good fortune. Others, on the contrary, suffered from constant bad luck. Some settlers managed to recover from deadly illnesses, while others suddenly died for no reason at all. The mansion holds plenty of intriguing, mystical and frightening stories, so be ready for the most unexpected discoveries.
Visage is being built on Unreal Engine 4. The developers plan to release the game not only on PC and consoles but also for virtual reality devices. Some budget limitations were mentioned, but with this level of support the developers should be able to pull it off. There is no exact release date yet, but a gameplay video is already available, and the developers tentatively plan to release the game in 2017.
