Why did Watch Dogs become one of the biggest hits of 2014? There are plenty of reasons. First, it opened up a huge range of things to do. You play as hacker Aiden Pearce, who can break into ctOS, the computer system that controls Chicago from top to bottom. That means Aiden can mess with traffic, communications and public events. Second, developer Ubisoft Montreal built the powerful Disrupt engine specifically for the game. Third, the story grabs you with its timeless theme of revenge. The hero relies not only on his brain but on his fists and his guns too. There is a fourth reason, a fifth... And all of it makes you want to download Watch Dogs 2!
So when is the sequel coming? Ubisoft Montreal isn't saying anything yet. The company is still busy with the first game, which came out on Wii U in November 2014. As a reminder, PC players and owners of Sony and Microsoft consoles started playing back on May 27, 2014. On top of that, the Canadian studio is working on several other big projects, among them the shooter Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege, which is due in 2015. So Watch Dogs 2 will take some waiting. Still, it is unlikely to take five years, which is how long the first game was in development, because the foundation is already there and nobody has to start from scratch. And you can count on some very notable improvements and unexpected twists in the story.
