The Darkness II is the sequel to Starbreeze Studios' dark shooter, though this time it was developed by a different company, Digital Extremes. The game continues the story of hitman Jackie Estacado, who has already climbed the ladder to become the top mafia boss in New York. Naturally, there are people who want to knock him off that lofty throne to make room for themselves. As Jackie Estacado, you'll have to fight these challengers, members of an organization called the Brotherhood, throughout the entire game. As events unfold, the hero will also learn something new about his own life.

- The Darkness still lives inside Jackie Estacado, and light is still his greatest enemy. In short, you'll need to think your moves through and carefully pick your spots for attacking enemies.
- The hero is a professional killer, so he handles firearms brilliantly. He is also consumed by the forces of the Darkness, which grants him various demonic abilities. One of the sequel's key innovations is the ability to combine gunfire with supernatural powers.
- Unlike The Darkness, where four imp minions followed the hero, here he is accompanied by only one. It helps out in fights with enemies and in various other situations. At the same time, The Darkness II lets you play as the imp itself, with stealth missions designed specifically for it.
